LTP Integration has supplied and installed a recessed handrail lighting solution to the new Abbey-Chesterton Bridge in Cambridge.
The 63m span bridge over the River Cam, alongside the Cambridge to Ely railway line, now provides a direct and safe link for cyclists and pedestrians.
Designed by Knight Architects and constructed by SH Structures, Abbey-Chesterton Bridge is a key element in the development of the Chisholm Trail – a cycling and walking route between the business parks and communities in the north of Cambridge to the Biomedical Campus and residential areas in the south.
LTP Integration used Pictor 8 3000K handrail lights to illuminate the bridge. 46 fittings were mounted one metre AFFL on a 45-degree angle, spanning across a width of three metres and pitched inline with the triangular structure.
The project was carried out in two phases. Firstly, LTP Integration supplied and installed the leader cables and LED drivers to the start point of each circuit.
The drivers were fitted inside the structure of the Abbey-Chesterton Bridge, with a removable access panel for ease of future maintenance. We later returned to install the handrail lighting units and commission the installation.
