Lighting Technology Projects has completed the first UK installation of Martin Architectural rail light fixtures on the stunning Tradeston Bridge in Glasgow.
The new wave-like pedestrian footbridge, which was devised by Glasgow-based civil engineers Halcrow in partnership with Scandinavian architects Dissing & Weitling, improves cross-river accessibility.
With a penchant for intricate and innovative lighting designs, LTP was appointed by Martin Architectural, under Bam Nuttalls to provide a fully project managed scheme, which included the supply, technical-fit out, commissioning and a three-year site warranty.
To ensure the lightsource was invisible along the structure’s 104 metre double curvature, custom shaped rail lights, which are highly contemporary flat modular systems based on dimmable T5 fluorescent tubes, were selected to perfectly fit the contours of the handrail.
Throwing light outwards and downwards, the efficient and long-life luminaires, neatly illuminate the waterfront landmark with elegant white light.
The 840 cool white colour temperature of the T5 fixtures exude a modern high tech ambience which successfully match the form and function of the bespoke bridge.
