Lighting Integration is proud to unveil its latest creative collaboration with Vastint UK, the real-estate development team behind the vibrant Sugar House Island in Stratford, London.
As part of Vastint’s commitment to bringing public spaces to life, the iconic Strand East Tower (also known as the Dane’s Yard Tower) has been reimagined with a brand-new suite of festive lighting scenes, just in time for the holiday season.
After 12 years of continuous operation, the landmark tower recently underwent a major service to restore its full functionality.
Vastint provided Lighting Integration with the outline brief for this project, and we interpreted this brief by developing a refreshed set of seasonal sequences that bring warmth, colour, and celebration to the riverside neighbourhood.
With more than 1,000 individually controllable LED points at its core, the solution presented by Lighting Integration has introduced an exciting canvas for dynamic, expressive lighting design.

For Christmas, two bespoke lighting scenes were created to capture the distinct moods of the festive period:
- Christmas Scene 1 draws inspiration from traditional décor, combining deep green, classic red, gold accents, and warm-white twinkles. The result is a soft, sparkling chase reminiscent of fairy lights on a Christmas tree – nostalgic, inviting, and full of seasonal charm.
- Christmas Scene 2 brings subtle variation across Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On the 24th, the Tower will feature a gentle sparkled effect to reflect the sense of anticipation, while Christmas Day shifts to a warm, steady glow; blending red, green, gold, and white in a harmonious, uplifting display.
To welcome the New Year, Lighting Integration introduced an updated countdown animation, designed to extend celebrations beyond midnight. As the clock strikes 12, the tower bursts into energetic pulses that echo the excitement of the moment, before settling into a sophisticated gold-and-white glow for the following five minutes – a calm, elegant transition that marks the start of a new chapter.
These new sequences mark just the beginning of a year-round programme. Lighting Integration will continue to enhance the Strand East Tower with tailored lighting designs for major cultural moments throughout the calendar, including Chinese New Year, Burns Night, Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, Easter, Mental Health Awareness Week, and the Lantern Festival. Each theme will bring its own colour palette and character, ensuring the Tower remains a beacon of creativity and community celebration.
Through this project, Lighting Integration is thrilled to help Sugar House Island continue evolving as a place where residents, businesses, and visitors can enjoy meaningful, beautifully lit experiences all year long.
