Light alley at Plantation Place

Lighting Technology Projects has illuminated an eye-catching glass art wall at London’s Plantation Place with LED fixtures.

The 41 metre long by 6 metre high structure runs along the newly created Plantation Lane that divides the two halves of the Plantation Place office building. It runs from Christopher Wren’s Grade One listed St Margaret Patten’s Church to the west of the development, to Mincing Lane in the east.

LTP was approached by electrical contractor Haden Young and architects/engineers Arup to facilitate lighting for the feature wall, which was constructed by Gartners and includes artwork from Simon Patterson.

ColorBlast was selected for the scheme for its even wash characteristics, its durability and its low maintenance and running cost factors. The 102 fixtures, which illuminate a sepia tinted etching of the dark side of the moon from the top and base, were programmed via CK’s ColorPlay, with control from the compact multiple show storage and playback system, the iPlayer 2.

Since the installation, the feature wall has proven to be a great hit, and is fast becoming a popular after-dark public attraction in its own right.
