Lighting Technology Projects has been appointed by Innovision to design and deliver a dynamic LED lighting solution for two central structures at Milan Expo 2015.

The Universal Exposition takes place every five years, each time in a different country. Running from 1 May – 31 October 2015 in Italy’s second most populous city, this time the chosen theme is ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’. Over 140 countries will participate, celebrating technology, innovation, culture, traditions and creativity, and how they relate to food and diet.

Located at Piazza Italia – at the crossroads of the two perpendicular axes along which 70 self-built exhibition spaces will be positioned – the ten metre high opposing ‘Gates’ will each be illuminated by 5000 RGB dots.

LTP is to install Traxon’s Mini-Dot String to provide a durable, energy-efficient solution, ensuring the sculptures will act as a focal point at the heart of the one million square metre site. Meanwhile, another two opposing structures will be positioned to form a square and provide high fidelity audio to accompany the LED visuals.

The Milan Expo 2015 is expected to welcome 20 million visitors over 184 days.
